ORGANIZATION: The San Diego River Park Foundation

The Design and Outreach Intern will provide graphic design support to assist in recruiting volunteers, and helping with branding and messaging for our many programs and projects. Interns may also be asked to help design interpretive panels, way finding and informational signage and elements of park site designs and renderings. In addition, interns will help with outreach at various locations along the San Diego River.

Description of Duties

  1. Help design and layout graphic communication pieces including direct mail, flyers, posters and park project site renderings.
  2. Assist staff with outreach duties during weekend volunteer events and other community events in order to collect email addresses and spread awareness of our organization and the San Diego River Park System.
  3. May attend community meetings to represent the Foundation
  4. Assist with all aspects of designing the graphics for the Anniversary Celebration, including: programs, invitations, auction bid sheets, etc.
  5. Keeps outreach and display materials in good repair and stored properly
  6. Other duties as assigned

Time Commitment: 8 - 10 hours per week. Mix of office and field work. Includes some weekends.

Qualifications:

- Must be at least 18 years of age

- Must believe in the mission and share the values of the SDRPF and have a passion for the environment

- Able to work as part of a team and alone

- Self starter who takes initiative to complete projects

- Willingness to learn new skills

- Good physical condition able to walk on rough terrain, lift 25 lbs

- Computer skills including Office Suite and familiarity with web based tools, fluency in In-design, Photoshop and Illustrator.

- Clear and concise written and verbal communication

- Professional demeanor, positive and friendly personality

- Comfortable speaking in front of groups (helpful but not required)

- Able to work well with volunteers

Description

We organize many different volunteer stewardship activities each month. River Cleanups, native plant gardening, habitat restoration, volunteer leadership, water quality testing, outreach and education, special event committees, technical committees and more.
