Dini and Baxter

We are a small therapeutic riding program located on the east side of Tucson looking to help teens like you have a fulfilling experience doing things you love.

Even if you don't have previous experience with horses, this is the perfect place to get some. Volunteers will be expected to come to meetings and workshops, where our staff will teach basic horse handling techniques in order for volunteers to feel comfortable enough working around the animals. Our main goal outside of providing an awesome experience to the children and adults in the lessons, is to keep everyone involved including horses safe.

We are putting together a group of young adults to tackle different tasks around our ranch. Email us and let us know what your skills and interests are so we can put you in the right opportunity :).

We follow the CDC guidelines.

Description

'Horses with Wings’ is a local therapeutic riding program located in Tucson, Arizona. It was founded, and is directed, by Michelle Mastrangelo M. Ed., BCBA L-BA. Michelle is also the Lead Trainer.

Currently, we have eight amazing equine partners working with our 'Horses with Wings’ family. Cowboy, Sedona, Dynamite, Reba, Dana, Baxter, Fritz and Iceman. These wonderful miracle-working creatures, paired with our devoted and caring staff, makes for a great learning and growing environment for individuals and families.

Therapeutic Riding is a growing and widely-accepted treatment for rehabilitating a range of physical, mental, and emotional disabilities. Conditions served include: cerebral palsy, spina bifida, neuromuscular disorders, post-traumatic brain injury, autism, ADHD, and cognitive disorders. Riders experience increased self-confidence and improvement in strength, balance, coordination, attention span, language and social skills.

Ms. Mastrangelo is a member of the Professional Association the Therapeutic Horsemenship International (PATH) and working toward her Therapeutic Riding Instructor Certification. She and her staff work with very creative ways to increase communication skills, social skills along with motor development and balance of all riding participants. Each participant has specific goals and objectives developed for them that are designed to decrease their area of need and increase their strengths. Some clients are more interested in working on the ground and not riding while some clients enjoy the ground work and the riding.
