Teen Arts Program (TAP) Camp is in its seventh year of providing middle school and high school youth with world class arts training in instrumental music, vocal music, dance, theater, and visual arts. This year’s camp will feature part-nerships with DC Jazz Festival and Joffrey Ballet in conjunction with the world premiere of " RUKA ," a new musical written by BGCGW’s Regional Artistic Director Tony Small . Master Class & Teaching Artists : Denyce Graves (Opera Diva), Victor Provost (Steel Pan Percussionist) , Ray Mercer (THE LION KING Dancer & Professional Choreographer), Joel Bergner (International Muralist) and more .

Summer Arts Internship Opportunities

COLLEGE INTERNS WANTED:

BGCGW is seeking college age counselors who are passionate about the arts and/or arts education. Responsibilities include (but not limited) :

  • 0B7 Serve as resident counselors and mentors for 6-8 youth in dorms.
  • 0B7 Assist in maintaining a rigorous daily performing and visual arts activity schedule.
  • 0B7 Adhere to the strict artistic and work discipline required to mount a major musical.
  • 0B7 Assist teaching artists and master class artists with engaging camp participants during teaching sessions.
  • 0B7 Be flexible and maintain both professional appearance and behavior.
  • 0B7 Be available to receive a week of counselor and facilitation training.
  • 0B7 Must successfully pass a background check and drug test.

TAP Camp is registered through the Department of Employment Services’ (DOES) 2014 Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). Applicants who are registered with SYEP can visit its website at www.summerjobs.dc.gov and submit Job Number 998 to select TAP Camp for your summer worksite.
