ORGANIZATION: Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation

We are currently looking for volunteers who would like to volunteer with the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation. This is excellent for students who would like to gain community service hours, also, recommended to those who love to give back to the community. Volunteer oppurtunities are avialble Mon - Sat 9am - 4pm and Sun NOON - 4pm. Oppurtunities and duties can include critter care, general cleaning and organizing, gardening, weeding, trail maintenance, community outreach, crafting, computer input and many other tasks. Mission Statement

The Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation (AHLF) was established as a non-profit corporation in 1990 to conserve, restore and enhance the environmental features of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon, marsh, wetlands, and watershed areas. The AHLF operates the lovely Lagoon Discovery Center at 1580 Cannon Road in Carlsbad, where they holds numerous environmental educational programming every year.

Description

The Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation's objective is to:

-Advocate for the lagoon, promoting and assuring future lagoon vitality

-Promote balanced recreational and commercial uses of the lagoon and wetlands

-Provide strong support for public access, trails and recreational opportunities

-Develop and promote, through The Lagoon Discovery Center, educational programs to enhance community and visitor awareness and understanding of water resource and watershed-related environmental issues.
