Increase adult literacy by insuring learners improve their overall functional reading, writing, or math competencies so they may better meet and cope with adult responsibilities ranging from beginning reading through GED preparation and workforce education. Each adult learner will be tutored at least 3 hours a week for six months. Tutors will help learners set personal litaeracy goals such as achieving a passing score on a GED practice exam; researching the public library or internet resources; enrolling in higher education courses; qualifying for vocational training programs or job promotion; and helping their children with schoolwork.

RSVP helps people age 55 and older find rewarding opportunities for community service. Each year hundreds of seniors contribute thousands of volunteer hours using their own talents and interests to help meet community needs at nearly 80 non-profit agencies and programs throughout Crawford County.
Description
Crawford County RSVP is federally funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service as a Senior Corps program, and is sponsored in Crawford County by the YWCA of Meadville.
