POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for coordinating WVCS’ partnerships with faith-based organizations to reduce poverty, hunger and homelessness, engage parishioners in WVCS’ programs and services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Coordinate existing special program partnerships with faith-based organizations.
2. Expand awareness and utilization of WVCS’ services within faith communities.
3. Act as the agency's "concierge" for pastors and parish staff seeking emergency assistance for parishioners.
4. Meet regularly with faith leadership to identify issues, concerns and needs in coordination with WVCS’ programs and services.
5. Convene an annual gathering of faith-based organizations involved in social service.
6. Explore grant funding to maintain faith-based partnerships.

QUALIFICATIONS

A change agent with an interest in community organizing, volunteer coordination, justice education and program development. Familiar with human service nonprofits and faith-based organizations.

Education:

Currently pursuing or in possession of a degree in Social Work, Theology, Political Science, Sociology or other related field.

Experience:

Community organizing
Project management
Experience working directly with the faith community, parishes, schools, ministries, and lay groups.
Previous non-profit experience desirable
Required knowledge, skills & abilities:
Commitment to the mission of West Valley Community Services.
Strong listening and community organizing skills.
Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
