ORGANIZATION: The San Diego River Park Foundation

Have you ever been to a wildlife preserve? Peutz Creek in Alpine, is teaming with life and this is your opportunity to learn about the areas natural ecology while supporting new growth! Along with watering the seedlings trees we have recently planted, you will get to check out our hidden wildlife cameras, learn to identify native plants, and explore a unique and untouched habitat.

As part of a larger restoration project, we have planted hundreds of trees in the preserve. With the hot and dry conditions, these little seedlings need your help! We will be watering these trees every 1st Saturday and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 9 - noon.

The preserve is 30 minutes by car from Mission Valley. Carpooling is available upon request. Community service hours verified. Families welcomed.

The San Diego River Park Foundation is dedicated to fostering stewardship and appreciation of the region’s namesake waterway. In order to protect and enhance the San Diego River as a place for recreation, habitat, and nature discovery, we are dedicated to engaging people to be stewards of the River and working towards the vision of a 52 mile, river-long system of parks, open spaces, and community places.

Description

We organize many different volunteer stewardship activities each month. River Cleanups, native plant gardening, habitat restoration, volunteer leadership, water quality testing, outreach and education, special event committees, technical committees and more.
