Adult Males and Females are needed for the Best Buddies Citizens Program in Sussex County:
-Best Buddies Citizens is a program where the volunteers are matched to an adult with a developmental disability in a one to one friendship.
The friendship requires very minimal time.
Commitment for 1 year,
1 phone call per week,
1 or 2 visits per month (simple, no or low-cost activities like taking a walk, playing a video game, or sharing a meal, etc.),
Optional attendance at group events,
Interview and background check required.
Our Mission: To establish a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Founded in 1989 by Anthony K. Shriver, Best Buddies is a vibrant, international organization that has grown from one original chapter to almost 1,900 middle school, high school, and college chapters worldwide. Best Buddies programs engage participants in each of the 50 United States, and over 50 countries around the world. Best Buddies’ eight formal programs - Middle Schools, High Schools, Colleges, Citizens, e-Buddies, Jobs, Ambassadors , and Promoters - positively impact nearly 900,000 individuals with and without disabilities worldwide.
