Mind LA, Inc., is a nonprofit committed to providing assessment, assistance, and advocacy about Alzheimer’s and other dementia in the underserved elderly communities of Los Angeles. Our team conducts free cognitive screenings at centers around Los Angeles for anyone over the age of 50. This is a brain health check up offered free of charge as a part of our advocacy for early detection of Alzheimer’s and other Dementia.

Event Helpers will be interacting with the Seniors at our events. You would be part of the team that sets up assessment stations, refreshment and game tables, and assists with registration of each participant. While our participating seniors wait for the next available assessment station, you would have the opportunity to interact with them - playing cards, assembling puzzles, or just talking with them and answering questions. In short, Event Helpers set the tone for every participant’s experience.

Current events we need Helpers for:

August 20th - Agape (Culver City)

August 22nd - Pauline Media and Books (Culver City)

August 24th - Pauline Media and Books (Culver City)

More events will be added as they are confirmed.

Description

Mind LA, Inc., is a nonprofit committed to providing assessment, assistance, and advocacy about Alzheimer’s and other dementia in the underserved elderly communities of Los Angeles, California. Mind LA is dedicated to providing a free, early cognitive assessment to anyone over the age of 50, in an attempt to bring any early indication of the disease to light. Our team hosts events at locations around Los Angeles, creating a welcoming, comfortable, non-biased environment. Our volunteers administer one-on-one cognitive screenings to participants under the supervision of Senior Social Workers, respecting the sensitivity of the results and following specific procedures to protect participants’ personal information. The goal is to empower seniors by providing them with an assessment of their mental health, and to act as a hub of information for those who are assessed to be in imminent need of medical intervention.
