Going crazy in quarantine? Do you, your kids, your quarantined cuties need something to do? There are so many elderly in facilities who are on lockdown and isolated from family, friends and volunteers who cannot visit. You know how they feel. Send them some love: Send a note Mail a postcard Take a picture of your dog, lizard, bird, ferret, octopus and show them how proud you are of your baby Make some individual, incredible art and mail it Write a poem and share it Create a meaningful message of hope and put it out there Scrawl a favorite Bible verse Draw your dog or cat and share it with them (don't tell the cat, they don't take it as well as the dog will) Contact me if you'd like to help. There are so many who would benefit from hearing from you, and it just might make you feel a little better knowing that you made someone's day and took their mind off being alone, isolated and uncertain about this future. Give them hope. Hospice patients and residents at these facilities would so appreciate a note from you! Knowing that you care about them, and that they're not alone would really make their day. Your note will take their mind away from this situation where they have no control. Please contact me if you'd like to send a card or a thousand cards and I'll give you some facility addresses where the residents are just waiting to hear from you. Do you want to help the community but don't know how because of social distancing or quarantine (or you just don't want to be around people)? Contact me to find out how! april.roush@brookdale.com 614-381-6023 (work cell)

Do you live in Will County? Do you enjoy making crafts? Can you crochet and/or knit? Turn your hobby into healing by becoming a craft volunteer...all from the comforts of your own home! Heartland Hospice needs more talented craft volunteers to donate items that will bring comfort to patients facing life-limiting illnesses. Once you have items ready to donate, staff will gladly pick them up at the volunteer's destination of choice or donations can be dropped off at our Frankfort business office. This is your chance to make a BIG difference without even leaving your doorstep! Please contact Heartland Volunteer Coordinator Belinda at Belinda.obrien@hcr-manorcare.com or 815-469-7100 if you're interested in donating handmade gifts of comfort to our hospice patients.
