  • COVID-19 Contact Investigator

    This is a virtual opportunity
It's Flexible! We'll work with your schedule

We are currently seeking volunteer assistance with our Contact Investigation Teams. Volunteer Contact Investigators assist in tracking and limiting the spread of COVID-19 in Waukesha County. With this job you will reach out to individuals who may have been identified as a close contact of a confirmed case. It is essential that anyone working on this maintain absolute confidentiality. This position is virtual, so it can be done from your home. We will provide a laptop, headphone, and flip cell phone for you to utilize. You will need to have a home with a secure internet connection, and be comfortable recording information electronically (we will train you on that portion). You will be assigned a team to work with who you can communicate with via Microsoft Teams (which we will also train you on). The commitment is a big one, and we recognize that. It is 20 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months. These hours should take place ideally Monday-Friday from 8:00-4:30 and/or Saturday and Sunday from 10:00-2:00, but there might be some flexibility with the hours. The average case we have takes about 20 hours, thus why we are asking for such a large commitment. The hours will vary depending on the number of reported cases and the difficulty of each contact case. This position is ideal for compassionate, organized, "people-people". Those with medical backgrounds are strongly preferred but not essential. There is both a virtual and in-person training component that is necessary before you get started with the position. We are currently scheduling weekly trainings through mid June. The in-person portion is currently a 2 day training. If you are interested or have questions, please contact us through VolunteerMatch or email kstraw@waukeshacounty.gov. We would be grateful to use our community's compassion and skills with Contact Investigation. Doing this will truly help keep our community safe and help curb the spread of COVID-19.

  • Help Us Continue to Deliver Our Life Saving Mission Nationwide

    This is a virtual opportunity
It's Flexible! We'll work with your schedule

Public health concerns caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic present significant challenges as the American Red Cross continues to deliver its lifesaving mission. To meet these challenges, we are investing an estimated $140 million to make sure we can support people across the country who count on Red Cross blood and disaster relief services. To help maintain a sufficient supply of blood for patients with critical needs over the coming weeks, we are: * Ensuring that we have enough workers to collect vital blood products. * Providing resources and equipment to help ensure the safety of blood donors and workers. * Investing in awareness and outreach efforts to inform the public about the ongoing need for blood donations. Blood donations are essential to ensuring the health of our communities, and we greatly appreciate the generosity of volunteer donors who have helped stock hospital shelves for people with critical medical needs. As experts have emphasized, there is no certain end date in this fight against coronavirus, and the Red Cross will continue to need the help of blood donors and blood drive hosts to maintain a sufficient blood supply in the weeks ahead. Help the American Red Cross continue to deliver its lifesaving mission nationwide due to this public health emergency. To donate online, visit redcross.org/donate and select "Coronavirus Outbreak." To donate by check, write "Coronavirus Outbreak" in the memo line, and mail it to your local Red Cross chapter or to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839.

  • Use your CPA skills to help fight animal crimes in Minnesota

    This is a virtual opportunity
    Fri, May 8, 2020 - Fri, July 31, 2020

Our nonprofit is looking for a CPA who can assist us in an audit. Minnesota Federated Humane Societies has very simple financials but we are growing and need an official audit to pursue larger funding sources and improve our Guidestar rating. We have 1 full-time staff and two part-time independent contractors. Due to COVID-19, we have had to put more resources toward creating online training opportunities and look for ways to secure funding for PPE for our agents. The quotes we have gotten for an audit are out of our ability to pay and we're unable to move forward in applying for larger grants until we have the audit complete. It should not be a terribly complicated audit, as audits go. We're a small organization but need to meet this criterion so we can grow. If you're interested in helping, please email Dallas at dallas.r@mnfedhs.org. Thanks for your consideration!
