Mission Statement

PlaNet Finance lends its support to all organisations that offer financial services to the destitute. Its direct clients are micro-finance institutions and other organisations providing the poorest with banking services. PlaNet Finance has undertaken several missions: Taking an active part in the development of the micro-finance market by supporting micro-finance actors (financial support, information, training, market studies, evaluation) Facilitating the access to new information technologies and promoting them by encouraging micro-finance actors to use them (providing micro-finance actors with hardware and offering them access to the Internet).

Description

PlaNet Finance is a new international non-governmental institution that aims at using the potential of the Internet to develop micro-credit.
PlaNet Finance supports organisations offering financial services to people who do not have access to formal financing. PlaNet Finance's direct clients are the Micro-finance institutions and the other organisations banking with the poorest. PlaNet Finance will not compete with commercial banks. On the contrary, it will help them develop this new sector of their activity in the most efficient way.
Through several units, PlaNet Finance offers the following services :
PlaNet Rating : Rating and quality certification of Micro-finance Institutions. Country survey
PlaNet Bank : : Financial resources for Micro-finance Institutions
PlaNet Library : Information concerning microfinance for all the actors of the development
PlaNet University: Training for Micro-finance Institutions and governments
PlaNet Systems: Granting computer equipment and supporting Micro-finance Institutions in terms of access and use of the Internet
PlaNet Research: Researches to develop innovative micro-finance approaches
PlaNet Finance uses the Internet both as a work platform to provide the MFI with its services and as a collaborative tool to network the skills of its experts located all over the world.
