Mission Statement

The Parris Island Historical and Museum Society exists to promote the Parris Island Museum by providing for the preservation, perpetuation, and appropriate publication and display of manuscripts, books, relics, pictures, and all other objects and information pertaining to the aforementioned primary purpose by soliciting contributions in support of these purposes and through the operation of the Museum Gift Shop.

Description

The Parris Island Historical and Museum Society supports the Parris Island Museum fulfill its mission to portray local military history, the history of Parris Island and related cultures, the development of Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD), Parris Island and units assigned, past and present, as part of the regional history of Port Royal, South Carolina. Additionally, the Museum serves the Depot in the preservation and interpretation of federally recognized historic sites on Parris Island. As such, the Museum collects and preserves and holds in trust for research objects, memorabilia, art, personal papers, printed works and archaeological artifacts for the education and enrichment of recruits, Marines, their families and the general public.
