Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
The Appropriate Technology Collaborative nonprofit organization whose purpose is "To design, develop, demonstrate and distribute appropriate technological solutions for meeting the basic human needs of low income people in the developing world. ATC works in collaboration with our clients to create technologies that are culturally sensitive, environmentally responsible and locally repairable in order to improve the quality of life, enhance safety, and reduce adverse impacts on their environment."
ATC fosters international collaborative teams of students, professionals and clients in the developing world to achieve breakthrough sustainable technologies. We license our designs through Creative Commons so that any person or NGO can copy or improve upon our work.
ATC also works with groups of Volunteers for a Sustainable Future. VSF volunteers work in Guatemala and Nicaragua. VSF volunteers help install solar power on buildings that lack electricity, learn natural building techniques and about permaculture.
We work with groups of students and professionals to design new sustainable, energy efficient technologies that can form the basis of small businesses. We also work with Business School students to create sustainable business plans.
We prototype techniologies in Latin America to prove they can be built in the countries where they are to be used.
ATC also tests systems of solar panels and related hardware to see where solar power systems can provide the greatest opportunity for the least cost.
