The Juvenile Justice Intiative is a comprehensive approach that provides young people, particularly those of color, diversionary options to the formal justice system. Youth are referred from police, judges, hearing boards, parole officers, school personnel, family members, or others who encounter a young person at risk of entering the formal juvenile justice system. Mentors spend an hour or more per week with their mentee and attend one group mentoring meeting per month, usually taking place in the early evenings. This program spans the state of Rhode Island. For more information, please reach out to our Director of Access, Innovation and Equity, Marisol Feliciano, at mfeliciano@mentorri.org or 401-732-7700 ext. 119
