Mission Statement

Mission "The mission of The William S. Baer School is to provide appropriate educational, medical and therapeutic programs for students with developmental delays, from three to twenty-one years of age by facilitating their physical, academic, social and emotional growth in all developmental domains through various activities involving school, family and community to prepare them to lead productive, self-sufficient lives."Vision It is our vision that the lives of all children attending the William S. Baer School will be maximized so that each child reaches his or her fullest potential.

Description

For over 75 years the Baer school, a Baltimore City Public School, has served children with multiple disabilities from all over Baltimore city. Through the years, the Baer School has seen significant changes in its population. The children have become increasingly more dependent on medical technology, more medically fragile and economically deprived.

Many of the students come to us with severe mulitple challenges including orthopedic disabilities, fragile health conditions, developmentally and mentally delayed as well as other health impairments. The children are enrolled as young as three and our older students "age-out" or graduate at age twenty-one.
