Mission Statement

RETURN TO WORK TEXAS is a vocal advocate for the disabled worker. We are committed to helping Texans obtain the medical, vocational and social assistance they need into order to return to work.

Description

Often injuries prevent an employee from returning to work at their pre-injury job due to permanent medical restrictions. These employees need to be trained in a different field (often a sedentary job) before they can re-enter the work force. This training requires that the injured worker be literate and able to complete classes. Unfortunately, the adult illiteracy rate is staggering.

Dallas County:
21% of adults lack basic literacy skills
25% of adults 25 and older do not have GED or diploma

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN??

It means that 1 out of 4 adults in Dallas County would require basic training to obtain a GED before they would be eligible to apply for most sedentary (think desk job) positions. Adults with a diploma or GED earn 41% more money annually than adults without one.

RETURN TO WORK TEXAS is raising money to fund an adult literacy program for disabled persons who need retraining in an alternate job field. Please help us....together we can make a difference!!
