Mission Statement

Our Mission: to ensure the future of wetlands, streams, riparian areas, prairies, wildlife and watersheds as an integral part of our Kansas heritage and landscape. Description

The Kansas Alliance for Wetlands and Streams (KAWS) is a 501.c.3 not-for-profit that was formed in 1996. Since its inception, KAWS has been collaborating with local people, conservation and community organizations, agencies and local governments to promote conservation of streams, wetlands, riparian areas, prairies, watersheds and wildlife--the natural heritage and resources- of Kansas. We have a storied history and long, track record of conservation successes and innovative approaches. We are governed by a diverse board of experienced professionals and supported by a broad range of partners and advisors who all help to make our alliance a successful conservation and community network. We believe in an apolitical, inclusive, efficient, and science-based approach to achieve a healthy balance of economics, conservation and community to support sustainability of the natural ecosystems and working lands of Kansas.
