The mission of KIPP Baltimore is to create and operate public schools in Baltimore City that lead students from low socioeconomic backgrounds and a diversity of skill levels to attend and succeed in four-year colleges.

Description

KIPP, the Knowledge Is Power Program, is a national network of free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public schools in under-resourced communities throughout the United States.

KIPP Baltimore is home to a diverse group of teachers from all over the country. This array of cultures combined with public and non-public teaching experiences create a TEAM and FAMILY of impeccable talents.

KIPP Baltimore currently has two schools KIPP Harmony Academy and KIPP Ujima Village Academy. KIPP Ujima Village Academy (KUVA) was founded in 2002. KUVA is a public charter school serving over 330 students in grades 5-8. The school is located at 4701 Greenspring Ave., Baltimore, MD 21209. During its seven years in operation, KUVA has been ranked as the highest performing public middle school in Baltimore City. KIPP Harmony Academy was founded in 2009 and is public charter elementary school that holds high expectations for students achievement that will put children on the path to college beginning in Kindergarten. The school is located at 2810 Shirley Ave., Baltimore, MD 21215 and will begin in August 2009 with Kindergarten and then grow over the next five years to an elementary school serving 625 students in grades K-4.
