Description

Phalen Lake Hmong Studies Magnet (PLHSM) is a diverse Saint Paul Public School serving 750 students in grades pre-k through 5. Phalen Lake volunteers have the opportunity to work with a diverse group of students in this East Side Saint Paul school. Students at Phalen are respectful and responsible, skills taught in our award winning Positive Behavior program. Phalen Lake serves students in grades pre-k through 5 from the East Side neighborhood. 92% of our student population qualifies for free and reduced lunch, and 79% receive English Language Learner Services.
Hmong/English Two way immersion classes are offered in one class per grade level but all students study Hmong Culture in the classrooms and an enrichment class. We offer a wide range of enrichment opportunities to our students including Art, Gifted/Talented Classes, Music, Physical Education, Science, Spanish Language and Culture, and Media Technology.
