Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
The mission of AfWiAm is to bring African women in America to form a Body with a Voice, in order to begin dialogues on the human rights issues facing African children and women. The aim of the organization is to establish a forum where ideas, wisdom and community-based services/organizing with and for children and women are shared by AfWiAm members. Also, as a Mother's Mission AfWiAm looks beneath the surface and picks up those tasks which are neglected or overlooked.
In this time of economic crisis, more and more of elders and seniors seem not to be receiving the optimum home-care they need either due to financial hardships on them or their families/friends.
Our studies show that women elders need some extras related to care and companionship than men elders. Right in their homes, we would like to bring them the friendship, presence and availability needed to age more dignifying.
Volunteer Duties to our Friends are purely non-medical. They include:
1. Providing companionship and friendships by our presence and availability
2. Providing services included in the Illinois' Section 240.210 In-Service and Section 240-230 Adult Day Service of Community Care Program from Department on Aging
