Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide a safe, neutral site for visits between a parent and child and/or custody exchanges for children who are struggling with divorce or family conflict.

Description

Safe Harbour supplies monitors and visitation rooms for visits ranging from 30 minutes to 8 hours in length allowing non-custodial parents the time and opportunity to establish, maintain, and/or increase their shared parenting of their children involved. On-site security is provided during scheduled supervised visitation times.

The services are offered at no cost to the participant. Participants of the Safe Harbour Supervised Visitation Center are referred by the court, by an attorney, by a professional working with the family or by the participant themselves. To be eligible for services, the parents must have a court order or a Rule 11 Agreement specifically stating that visits between the non-custodial parent and the child/children must be supervised or recommending that exchanges be monitored.

Parenting education sessions focus on healthy co-parenting behaviors, developing shared parenting plans, effective communication, and how to deal with conflict. Fathering support groups are offered to fathers whether they are the custodial or non-custodial parent to help strengthen the parenting and/or co-parenting relationship. Case Management services integrate the non-custodial parent into family services, i.e. job training and employment services, basic needs care, referrals to health care, disability, mental health and substance abuse services.
