Mission Statement
The Mission of REACH is to promote the joy of reading to children living in homesless and domestic violence shelters by offering a lively read-aloud story time, literacy activities, new books and book bags filled with literacy supplies. REACH also maintains access to a library of new and used books at each of the shelters we serve.
Description
Volunteers are needed as participants on Read-Aloud teams as well as book delivery and pick-up and sorting. They will be fully trained and oriented to our program and the work we do with the children we serve. The committment is one night a month for one hour for the Read-Aloud Teams. Hours vary for other duties. On teams, volunteers share stories with children living in family shelters, then provide a lively activity or game to support the theme of the stories shared. All volunteers must meet with the volunteer coordintor. Please always call ahead before visiting our office.
