Mission Statement

The Mica Foundation strives to enrich the community by affecting positive change in the mental health, personal development, and relationships of local youth, veterans, and families through equine experiences based on the gold-standard EAGALA method of EAP in a beautiful, safe, and friendly setting.

Description

The Mica Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization setup in 2011 for the purpose of improving the quality of life for children and adults with physical, behavioral, or emotional needs through Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and horsemanship programs.

The Foundation uses horses to help at-risk youth, veterans, and families re-build their lives. Our local community provides clients and volunteers, and the Foundation provides the facility, horses, and equine expertise. The Foundation currently partners with the Idaho Youth Ranch (IYR) to provide equine-assisted therapy and horsemanship programs to children and families who participate in the IYR programs. These programs range from family therapy, group and individual counseling, and short-term crisis relief, to adoption services. The Foundation also serves Veterans and is actively seeking new opportunities to serve the community's needs through this recovery model.
