Milwaukee Children's Choir is seeking dedicated individuals interested in supporting the Development Committee through fundraising and stewardship. The Development Committee is responsible for creating and implementing comprehensive development strategies to engage donors, businesses and foundations in fundraising. The committee also helps the Board carry out its due diligence function related to assuring fiscal health through philanthropy. ✰ To institutionalize the philanthropic process, assuring a donor-centered organization. ✰ To expand the community’s awareness and knowledge of MCC. ✰ To position MCC as the Charity of Choice for organizations, community leaders and Primary Responsibilities: ✰ Help nurture a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization and assure that all donors of time and money are respected and honored. ✰ Through the fund development planning process: establish the charitable contributions goals for the annual budget; device the annual fund development plan for action by the Board; and, recommend results and benchmarks for action by the Board. ✰ Help the Board articulate the case for philanthropic support directed at specific audiences. ✰ Establish task forces to carry out specific fund development activities. Monitor task force performance. The Governance Committee is responsible for developing and supporting actions that maximize the involvement of the Board and create continuous leadership for Milwaukee Children’s Choir (MCC). Primary Responsibilities: ✰ To prepare priorities for board composition ✰ To meet with prospective board members and recommend candidates to the board ✰ To recommend a slate of officers to the Board ✰ To conduct orientation sessions for new board members and to organize training sessions for the entire board ✰ To suggest new non-board individuals for committee or taskforce membership ✰ Monitoring of Board member attendance at full Board meetings and committee and making any needed recommendations in response to attendance ✰ Develop and implement, with the Board Chair, ways to maximize engagement of directors through attendance and participation in the Board, Committees and other MCC activities ✰ Oversee and maintain "job descriptions" for Board and Committees ✰ Responsible for educating the Board of MCC's business model, policies and practices ✰ To deal with special issues; To investigate an unusual problem or opportunity, such as negative publicity in the newspaper, an unusual grant opportunity or a possible joint project with another organization Qualifications: ✰ Passionate about making a difference in Milwaukee ✰ Expertise in the areas of nonprofit governance or board development a plus ✰ Contribute annually as a donor to MCC Benefits: ✰ Gain an understanding of local community needs and how they are being addressed ✰ Serve on a community committee that is making an impact in Milwaukee ✰ Leadership development and networking opportunities

Thank you for your interest in joining Milwaukee Children’s Choir Board of Directors. Your leadership and active participation as a Director plays a critical role in the Choir’s ability to fulfill its mission and vision, now and into the future. The Board of Directors of Milwaukee Children’s Choir has a responsibility to the community as well as to the Choir itself. The following specific expectations are intended to ensure that all Directors agree to a basic common understanding of what is required to fulfill those responsibilities: ✰ Uphold and affirm the organization’s philosophy, mission, policies, and vision. ✰ Attend at least 75% of the Board and committee meetings; volunteer for the Board and its related activities 6-10 hours/month on an annual basis; and attend at least two MCC performances during the year. ✰ Make an annual financial contribution to Milwaukee Children’s Choir, ensuring that it is a priority among the organizations that you support. ✰ Promote the financial health of the organization. ✰ Act in the best interests of the organization, and abstain from any discussions or votes that might lead to, or be perceived as, a conflict of interest. ✰ Be an informed advocate of the organization’s work. ✰ Share your time, talent, treasure, and influence. ✰ Select the Executive Director and Artistic Director, and support and evaluate their work. ✰ Keep the work of the Board of Directors confidential, unless there is reason to celebrate and share good news with the public. ✰ Support the decisions of the Board. The Personnel Committee is made up of volunteers and is responsible for maintaining the Employee Handbook in compliance with current employment laws and requirements. The committee also performs specific functions in support of the Executive Committee and Board, such as timely reviews of job descriptions, salary surveys, compensations and more. ✰ To draft and/or revise personnel policies for Board approval ✰ To review job descriptions ✰ To establish a salary structure, and annually reviewing staff salaries and benefits package ✰ To act as a grievance Board for employee complaints Primary Responsibilities: ✰ Review and/or revise employee orientation and training logistics and recordkeeping ✰ Audit of MCC employee safety, welfare, wellness, and health reporting ✰ Provide direct support to employees during the implementation of HR services, policies, and programs ✰ Responsible for driving organization development initiatives. The Marketing Committee is a volunteer committee that advises MMC staff regarding the branding, marketing and communications efforts and strategies of the organization, and budgeting recommendations needed to support those efforts.
