Mission Statement

The United States Golf Association (USGA) has served as the national governing body of golf for the U.S., its territories and Mexico since its formation in 1894. It's a non-profit organization run by golfers for the benefit of golfers. The Association sponsors a variety of programs that benefit everyone who plays the game, from conducting 13 national championships each year, to writing and interpreting the Rules of Golf, to funding turf grass and course maintenance practices, to supporting grassroots programs through its "For the Good of the Game" initiative.

Description

2010 U.S. Women's Open Volunteer Opportunities Volunteer applications are now available for the 2010 U.S. Women's Open. More than 3,000 volunteers are needed to fill positions on 25 committees, including Marshals, Transportation, Leaderboards and Merchandise. A full description of committee responsibilities is provided on the Web site and on the application form to assist volunteers in determining their preferences. All volunteers are required to purchase the volunteer package for $125 (a $200+ value), which includes two (2) championship golf shirts, one (1) championship windbreaker, one (1) championship ball cap or visor, one (1) volunteer pin, one (1) championship water bottle, one (1) volunteer credential valid for all seven days of the championship, and complimentary food, snacks and beverages on the days they volunteer. Each volunteer will be asked to work approximately 16 - 20 hours or four to five shifts over the course of the championship. Junior volunteers may sign up for the Program Sales or Standard Bearers committees. Juniors must be between the ages of 13 and 17 at the time of the championship and have a basic knowledge of golf. The junior volunteer package (priced at $50) includes: one (1) 2010 U.S. Women's Open golf shirt, one (1) Ball cap and a volunteer credential (valid for all seven days of the championship).
