Our mission is to create an organization that promotes Florida environmental awareness and conservation through friendly partnerships, education, charity sponsorship and community service. To achieve this goal, we provide our members with opportunities to participate and educate in conservation and environmental awareness efforts. We also strive to entertain the Tampa Bay Area by emulating the 19 th century fictional submarine and environmentally conscious Krewe and Captain of the Nautilus similar to Jules Verne's classic "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" in parades and other social events.
About Us The Krewe of the Nautilus organization, founded on March 17, 2003, is based in the Tampa Bay Area. We are a family oriented Krewe open to singles and families. The goal of the Krewe is to promote environment awareness and conservation through participation - have fun with the environment. The Krewe participates in various clean-up and reef projects in the Tampa Bay. We also plan trips to environmentally proctected and senstive areas to encourage appreciation and awareness.
In order to better educate our members on the environment and conservation, the Krew of the Nautilus has partnered with the Florida Aquarium and the Children's Cancer Center. Through our partnership with the Aquarium, we continue to be educated on the environment; and in order to help the Aquarium, we raise funds for the Florida Aquarium to support its goals in conservation and education.
In some case, appreciation is not achievable for families and children stricken with severe medical conditions. Programs that target their needs are essential to bridging the coastal and ocean appreciation gap. In partnership with the Children's Cancer Center and the Florida Aquarium and under the "Aqua/Eco-Kites" program, activities will be funded and created targeting the families of the cancer center. Our hope is to bring the ocean, star fishes and sand castles and provide a lifting spirit through coastal and ocean appreciation Florida Conservation Beaches and oceans are a means and way of life for many coastal communities, especially those in Florida. They provide recreational opportunities and enable local economies. But when the beaches and oceans become contaminated from a variety of sources such as from malicious activities, sewage treatment plant failures, or polluted runoff - people, businesses, communities, and marine wildlife suffer. By participation and continual education, Florida's beaches and oceans can be preserved. Through public and community awareness and voluntary participation in environmental programs, the goals to preserve Florida's coastal and ocean heritage will be further advanced leaving a legacy of clean beaches and oceans.
