Mission Statement

Our mission is to lessen the trauma to abused children and their families by uniting the efforts of public agencies and enlisting the support of the community. Our goals are to advocate for the rights of children and their specific needs and create an environment where child abuse is no longer tolerated.

Description

The Children's Advocacy Center of the Coastal Bend is a non-profit organization that works with sexually and severely physically abused children, child witnesses to violent crime, and their non-offending family members. The Center sees children whose ages range from 2 to 17 years of age. Although Nueces County is our official service area, the center provides the same services to all 12 counties in the Coastal Bend area. The Children's Advocacy Center of the Coastal Bend is an accredited member of the Nation Children's Alliance and Children's Advocacy Centers of Texas, Inc. We receive funding from the CAC's of Texas, the Attorney General's Office, Victims of Crime Act (VOCA), and private donations.

During my search in volunteering this has really hit my heart. I have always wanted to be a part of a childs life to make another route besides that of the mindset of abuse. There is so much good to transform of ourselves to another. We just have to have the will within. And to know that it will be worth it. Even if it is a little bit. I have worked with children with special needs, autisum, etc. and many behavior problems. Not once did I feel exhausted to give a smile or a kind word . It was such a learning process for me. In the time I was there til the time I left , it was me who learned so much. If I am given the opportunity to be a part of a broken child, then that is my reward. Thanks, Rosey
