Mission Statement

The Parent Advocacy Council for Education has a mission "to raise awareness among parents and people who care about children concerning the need to improve public education for students living in the City of Wilmington." The initiative focuses on building a recognized parent leadership movement. It does this by cultivating a strong understanding of education policy among Wilmington parents and emerging community leaders through regularly recurring workshop series cohorts at the Christina Cultural Arts Center and opportunities to influence school governance and policy making.

Description

The PACE network will provide training workshops to those who want to better advocate for kids in schools, work with advocates to get to school board meetings and be heard there and provide a strong information resource on current education topics and issues.

This is a crucial and much needed service for city parents and residents. The long-term survival of the City of Wilmington is completely tied to ensuring that good educational opportunities are available to city kids and that city parents (and others) have the tools to be better able to advocate for city kids. Start making a difference for Wilmington kids and the city.
