Mission Statement

The LLS mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

Description

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light The Night Walk is the nation's night to pay tribute and bring hope to people battling cancer. In fiscal year 20078, the Walk raised over $34 39 million nationally for research and patient services. This year, Augusta plans to raise $150,000.

Participants walk along a two-mile route on the Riverwalk, carrying lighted balloons--white for survivors and red for supporters. Dedication banners provide an opportunity to display a name or message, honoring or commemorating a family member or friend with cancer.

The Walk is open to all; it does not require a particular level of fitness. Last year, thousands of people in approximately 240 communities in the United States and Canada participated in a Light The Night Walk event. In Augusta, Light the Night is on October 3, 2008 at the Augusta Common.
Registration starts at 5:30 and the walk begins at 7:30
