Established in 1992, the International AIDS Society-USA is a not-for-profit, HIV clinical specialist-education organization. The mission of the International AIDS Society-USA is to improve the treatment, care, and quality of life of persons with HIV and AIDS through balanced, relevant, innovative, and state-of-the-art education and information for practitioners who are actively involved in HIV and AIDS care. The organization's educational activities are particularly intended to bridge clinical research and patient care.
Description
The IAS-USA sponsors regional continuing medical education (CME) courses and seminars that provide current and clinically relevant information to HIV/AIDS physicians in the United States. The program, which began in 1992, is a series of full-day advanced-level CME courses targeted to physicians who actively care for people with HIV/AIDS. The program provides a comprehensive update to physicians in HIV/AIDS epicenter cities in the United States each year. Each course assembles a faculty of national and local experts in the field of HIV/AIDS research and clinical care. The program aims to help guide clinicians in the day-to-day medical management of persons with HIV disease and presents the most current and significant treatment trends, information that will ultimately help providers and their patients choose the most appropriate course of therapy.
