Description

The Brain Injury Association of Oregon (BIAOR), founded in 1984, is the only state, nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting those with brain injuries, their families and professionals surviving them . The BIAOR Neuro-Resource Facilitation toll free number, located in Portland, OR, provides a broad range of services to the brain injury community, including information and referrals serving as a clearinghouse for community resources , 48 support groups located throughout the state; awareness and prevention activities include hosting bike rodeos and awareness campaigns aimed toward educating children and parent on helmet use and safety issues; hosts educational programs and conferences, produces a quarterly newsletter, The Headliner, and works with the Oregon VA to assist returning vets and their family members dealing with brain injury. Every year, thousands of information requests and referrals are processed. Packets are mailed, free of charge, containing articles, DVD's, and books, helping to connect families to information and resources as soon as possible after a brain injury has been diagnosed.

I needed info to help my brain injured grandson. Sherry answered my call immediately and gave me names and phone nos. of people and places that would be of help to me.She also told me the difference between brain injuries and mental illness.
