The Glean Team is a corps of volunteers that work together to assist with growing, gleaning, processing and transporting food from local farms to local food pantries and soup kitchens as part of the Ulster County Farm to Food Pantry Collaborative. The Farm to Food Pantry Collaborative is a coalition of local workers and volunteers from Community Gardens and Farms, Gleaners, Processors, Storage Facilities, Food Pantries and Soup Kitchens working together to help make the connections that will feed more people in our communities. Farmers are generously offering to donate fresh produce but need help getting it to those in need. We work in collaboration with the Rondout Valley Growers Association Farm, Family of Woodstock, Mohonk Consultations, Woodcrest Community, Cornell Cooperative Extension, CRREO at SUNY New Paltz, Hudson Valley Farm Hub, Huguenot Street Farm, Phillies Bridge Farm and many other local farms and food pantries. UlsterCorps recruits volunteers to participate in gleanings at local farms and processings at local community kitchens throughout the growing season, including weekly gleanings at Huguenot Street Farm in New Paltz. In partnership with Rondout Valley Growers Association and Family, over 1,059,159 lbs of fresh food donated by local farms was harvested and distributed to over 50 food pantries, shelters and feeding programs since the collaboration began in 2009, increasing food security for thousands of families in Ulster County. Join our Glean Team and be a part of this fun and rewarding project! Register here to sign up or call/text us at (845) 481-0331.

Join the UlsterCorps U-Team! The UlsterCorps U-Team provides qualified volunteers the opportunity to serve in rewarding short-term, and often immediate, assignments throughout Ulster County. U-Team members function together as an active and dedicated cadre to help meet community needs. As a U-Team member you’ll receive notifications of diverse short-term volunteer projects and events that need your skills and experience. The U-Team coordinator communicates with organizations needing assistance to ensure that the volunteer response is appropriate and the agency is prepared to receive help. Notification of an activity, with clearly stated details, is then sent to U-Team members who individually respond if interested in participating. We hope that you’ll volunteer whenever available, but there is no set expectation as to number of times or regularity.Just a few of the many examples of the variety of projects and events in which you might participate include: community events and festivals, crop gleaning/food processing, trail work, donation pick-ups and storm relief. If you are committed to making a difference, we will make volunteering easy by setting up all the details in advance. All you have to do is show up! When you serve with the U-Team you participate with others coming together in work and fun to serve your local community. Join us or get more information by contacting Beth at 845-481-0331 or email u-team@ulstercorps.org.
