To provide the resident of East Tennessee with the highest quality locally produced opera.

To contribute to the future of the operatic art form by educating the community about opera and its role in our culture and presenting new works when possible.

To expand audiences for opera in the regaion.

To encourage the develpment of operatic talent in thes community and foster its exposure to the greater opera audience.

Description

Knoxville Opera presents two fully stage operas at the historic Tennessee Theatre on Gay Street in Downtown Knoxville. Full accompaniment is provided by the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. Principal artists are brought in from all over the country. The supporting cast are often singers from the University of Tennessee Opera Studio program. The chorus is made up of local singing actors.
