Mission Statement
The mission of CADE is to promote children's potential for growth through comprehensive, school- and community-based, youth development and support programs that are begun at an early age, and are designed to encourage positive choices while reducing high-risk behaviors.
Description
CADE, founded as the Corporate Alliance for Drug Education in 1987, delivers research-based violence and substance abuse prevention programs positively impacting the lives of more than 8,000 students each year. In partnership with the School District of Philadelphia's Office of School Climate and Safety, CADE's ten Prevention Specialists are working in 36 K-9 th grade Philadelphia public schools as well as one in Norristown, PA, in FY09.
CADE Prevention Specialists employ nationally validated, evidence-based curricula with fidelity, such as Get Real About Violence (GRAV), Here's Looking at You (HLAY), Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies (PATHS), Botvin's Life Skills, and Reconnecting Youth. CADE requires Prevention Specialists to adhere to standardized lessons and workbook materials, and administer pre- and post-cycle questionnaires for each cycle, grades 4-8.
