Mission Statement

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church.

Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Description

The Salvation Army provides basic human necessities such as food, clothing and shelter to those in need without discrimination, in Jesus' name.

The Salvation Army in La Crosse has several programs that utilize volunteers.

Our meal program serves hot meals every day of the year to our shelter residents and the general public. Volunteers help us prepare and serve the meals, as well as clean up afterwards.

Our food pantry is open Monday-Friday afternoons to give food packages to families in need of that service. Volunteers help us stock shelves, bag groceries, and assist with registration of clients.

Our thrift store uses volunteers to sort donations, tag items for sale, and hang clothes on racks on the sales floor.

Office volunteers help us with mailings, data entry, and other clerical duties.

Maintenance volunteers assist us with property upkeep, janitorial tasks, and outdoor work, including snow removal, raking, mowing, and the like.
