If you have firsthand experience in the space industry, your stories and insights will provide a special, authentic perspective that enriches our guests' experience. However, prior experience is not a requirement-just a genuine interest in and knowledge of America's incredible journey into space. We offer a flexible schedule to accommodate your availability, with opportunities to volunteer as little or as much as you can, from weekly to monthly, or even as a substitute. We're open Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm, and will work with you to find the perfect time slot. As a docent, you will: - Engage and Inspire: Share your passion for space with visitors of all ages, providing them with a memorable and educational experience. - Personalize Each Tour: We provide a general script, but we encourage you to add your own observations, anecdotes, and unique insights to make each tour special and engaging. - Enjoy a Supportive Environment: We offer a relaxed, fun atmosphere and comprehensive training to help you feel confident and prepared. Your warm, friendly demeanor will set the tone for their entire visit, whether you’re greeting them in person or answering the phone. What You’ll Do: - Engage with Visitors: Welcome guests with a smile, answer their questions, and provide excellent customer service to enhance their museum experience. - Sales and Merchandising: Help visitors select the perfect mementos from our curated collection of space-themed merchandise, including books, art, and souvenirs.
