Our mission is to promote equity in education for all women and girls and increase the number of under-represented women in STEM.

Description

"Girls Excelling in Math and Science" (GEMS) of Prince George’s County, now in its tenth year or activity, is an after-school weekly enrichment program designed for girls enrolled in public middle schools. The hands-on curriculum ranges across the sciences, while the field trips help our participants to see science and mathematics used in a larger context than the one of their classroom. The lessons are designed to encourage the students to observe and explore their environment, to ask questions, design experiments, collect and compare data, and collaborate with their peers.
