Become a 'life skills partner' and build a rewarding relationship with a refugee or a refugee family. We are hoping to connect our refugee families to long lasting friendships, moving from a place of "welcoming" to "belonging". A ride to the store, teaching technology use, encourage English learning practice, and more. Let's keep Spokane a safe and friendly place for refugees.

Childcare During Language Classes

Do you love working with kids? We are seeking volunteers who can engage and interact with children, who's parents are attending English Language Class, among other courses that we offer. Volunteers will play games, serve snacks, and lead activities. This time is so important for parents who are seeking self sufficiency, greater confidence, and reaching their educational goals.

Transportation and Navigation

World Relief is seeking volunteers who have a heart to support our refugee families with transportation. Volunteers offer rides to our families, as they learn to navigate in our community and lern bus routes. Driving to and from medical appointments, job interviews, shopping trips, and more. We truly appreciate all of our volunteers, and even the simple act of a ride makes a BIG difference.

Refugee Friendship Partner

* Friendship Partners come alongside refugee families needing a friend to help them adjust to life in the United States, practice English, and build community. Visit individual/family regularly to build a relationship of trust * Share your lives through meals together, introductions to your community, visits to parks, libraries, places of interest * Help them sort through mail, instruct on how to use household cleaners, explain cultural norms * Empower and train your individual/family to learn and solve problems rather than doing them for them * If cleared to drive by World Relief background check, occasionally help with transportation to appointments * Ask family/individual what would help them * Log volunteer hours and maintain contact with volunteer coordinator and case manager, if applicable
