To preserve and protect the rural landscapes and natural resources of Hunterdon County.

Description

In 1996, Hunterdon Land Trust Alliance was incorporated as a nonprofit land conservation organization, founded by local citizens concerned with the negative effects of increasing suburban sprawl. Since its incorporation, the Hunterdon Land Trust has:

  • Facilitated the permanent preservation of more than 5,000 acres of farmland, forests, and natural areas throughout the county, of which we own 721 acres and are responsible for monitoring another 181 acres protected by conservation easements;
  • Leveraged over $40 million in state, county, nonprofit and municipal funding for land acquisition projects;
  • Developed over 3 miles of public access hiking trails on preserved property.
  • Created a bustling seasonal Farmers' Market at our historic Dvoor Farm in Flemington, NJ to promote local farms and products.
