Description
Verner is a nonprofit providing high quality, affordable early care and education to children six weeks to five years old in Buncombe County, North Carolina. The organization provides 5-star comprehensive care and education to almost 200 children and their families at two centers in Asheville and Candler, NC and through a home-based Early Head Start program. We also provide families supportive services and programs such as Mothers on the Move, Rainbow In My Tummy(r) and trained staff provide individualized case management to families in crisis. We were founded to ensure that all children have access to high quality affordable care. Our blended program accepts vouchers, as well as private pay families. Verner is also an Early Head Start provider and North Carolina Pre-Kindergarten provider.

Wonderful work done for these children and the community but the lack of coordination amongst management, staff and would be/current volunteers dampens the effect. Not enough funding to keep them adequately staffed causes everyone to be spread thin. Maybe this is why there's weeks before a response to volunteer requests and only following up when they're in need. Great people but a horrible volunteer program. The position to rock babies was never honored... Instead various gofer tasks.
