Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) has been mentoring youth in the United States since 1904. Our vision is to provide successful mentoring relationships for all children who need and want them, contributing to brighter futures, better schools, and stronger communities for all.
Here in Cheyenne, mentoring is provided through Core Services. Program evaluations consistently show that after entering our program, children are;
- 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs
- 27% less likely to begin using alcohol
- 52% less likely to skip school and more confident in their performance in schoolwork
- getting along better with their families
Our Core Services include a One-to-One Community Based program. In the One-to-One Community Based program, we carefully match children with caring adult mentors in professionally supported one-to-one relationships. In the relationship matches do activities based on common interest and personality type. The volunteers say they get back so much more than they give. When having fun is a priority, volunteers and the child both get to explore new ideas and share experiences neither might have had otherwise. The Community Based program is open to all youth ages 5-16.
