Mission Statement

St. Ignatius Nursing & Rehab Center, a Catholic healthcare ministry of the Felician Franciscan Sisters, welcomes all and responds to the needs of the whole person as revealed in the healing ministry of Jesus. We serve our communities by providing quality care and integrating our essential core values of Dignity of All Persons, Excellence, Community, Stewardship and Concern for the Poor.

Description

St. Ignatius Nursing & Rehab Center is a long term care nursing home and rehab center dedicated to compassionate care for low income elderly and the infirmed. The original home was founded back in the '50’s by the local parish priest who wanted to help some elderly parishioners who were living in deplorable conditions. He bought the home next to the rectory and staffed it with volunteers to care for them. From these early beginnings, this small nursing home moved and grew into the current modern 176 bed nursing & rehab center, but what has not changed is the mission. St. Ignatius is now the ministry of the Felician Franciscan Sisters who dedicate their lives to those in need. While we are a Catholic facility, the Sisters and our staff serve those of all religions and creed and welcome everyone. Only a block away from the original nursing home, we have become an anchor in a struggling area of Philadelphia and employ 250 staff, giving steady employment with benefits to many from the surrounding neighborhoods.
