Mission Statement

Cedar Rapids Follies is dedicated to the preservation of classic and contemporary musical theater and musical revue, reminiscent of the original Ziegfeld Follies. The purpose of Cedar Rapids Follies is to encourage the performance and enjoyment of choral singing, music, comedy, and dance in Cedar Rapids and includes outreach to surrounding communities through educational and recreational performance opportunities.

Description

A Cedar Rapids tradition spanning decades, FOLLIES is a music, comedy and dance spectacular that thrills longtime fans and new audiences alike.

Cedar Rapids Follies is a community tradition since 1981 having returned to the historic Paramount Theater in downtown Cedar Rapids after the flood of 2008. The flood not only destroyed 30 years of costumes and other theatrical assets of Follies but also destroyed the Paramount Theater. The primary show which had previously been a fundraiser for Orchestra Iowa returned to the refurbished Paramount Theater in April 2013 with the help of St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary. Going forward, the Cedar Rapids Follies will uphold this eastern Iowa tradition as its own entity with a goal to sustain vaudeville-style theater education and performance in music and dance to and for the greater Cedar Rapids community.
