Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the North Carolina Children's Museum at The Nest! We are so happy you're interested in helping us out! If you enjoy working with infants, toddlers and young children and seeing them learn and discover right before your eyes, then The Nest is the place for you to volunteer! We are looking for volunteers from 14 years and older (adults and seniors very much welcomed). We have several opportunities for our volunteers including helping out with our special programs, outreach events, and in our exhibit spaces. The Nest is open Tuesday-Saturday with programs running throughout the day and some evenings. Want to get involved with the North Carolina Children's Museum but don't know where to start? Love gardening and working with kids? Volunteer during our Garden Programs and help children and their families explore nature while learning about plants and the environment. Join us to make a positive impact and have fun outdoors! Duties include Interact with 0-8 year olds with their caregivers in our outdoor learning garden. Provide a safe and welcoming informal learning environment for 0-8 year olds and their caregivers. Set up and clean up the garden space after the program (ie put toys back into shed and return materials to the front desk). Assist in preparing, implementing, and engaging in the garden program. Assist in keeping garden area clean, safe, and organized during the garden program. Qualifications Minimum age: 14 years. First Aid/CPR certification preferred, not required. Strong communication skills. Responsibility, reliability, and commitment to the role. Child-focused, team player, values driven, and positive role model. Comfortable working outside. Parents' Night Out is a drop-off program for children ages 3-9. Volunteers and staff will facilitate PLAY in our exhibits, a hands-on craft in our Program Room, Pizza from Alfredo's (yes, volunteers can eat pizza too!) and we end with a quiet show while kiddos get picked up. Volunteers will assist with activity facilitation and helping with tidying of the exhibit areas, but most of all having FUN and playing! We hope every child will have a fun and engaging experience at this program and you'll be helping to make that happen. We can't wait to see you there! Parents’ Night Out runs some Friday and Saturday evenings every month and we are looking for volunteers from 14 years and older (adults and seniors are very much welcomed). Program Description The Nest offers summer camps for ages 4-8. Volunteers are an asset to our programs - assisting in planning and implementing camps, preparing and cleaning materials and museum spaces, and maintaining a safe, fun, and organized camp atmosphere. Summer camps will run from June 12th through August 22nd.
