The purpose of this agency is: (A) to provide emergency shelter, rehabilitative services, court advocacy, counseling, job and housing placement, and community referrals to women and children who are in crisis as a result of domestic abuse, sexual assault, and/or homelessness; (B) to provide teen pregnancy counseling and adolescent parenting skills to teen mothers in order to reduce the incidents of child abuse and neglect and to forster the completion of high school education for teen mothers; and (C) to provide professional and community education on domestic violence, sexual assualt, homelessness and adolescent parenting.
Wesley Shelter provides shelter and a broad base of services to meet the transitional and long-term needs of abused and homeless women and children, as well as victims of sexual assualt. We aid and assist women in obtaining safe and secure emergency housing and help them to work towards an independent living status for both themselves and their children. We also assist women in obtaining protection form violence utilizing the legal system. We provide intensive children's support services in order to break the generational cycle of violence. In addition,we educate the local community about the needs of the the women and children we serve. Finally,we provide counseling and support services to pregnant or parenting teens.
