Mission Statement

The mission of Napa Emergency Women's Services (NEWS) is to provide a nurturing refuge for women and children suffering the effects of domestic violence (DV) and to prevent family violence through comprehensive intervention services, advocacy, and education.


Since 1981, NEWS is the only agency exclusively dedicated to providing emergency services and confidential shelter for abused women and their children in Napa County that meets state and federal requirements for DV programs. NEWS assists DV victims regardless of gender, sex, race, age, religion, sexual orientation, pregnancy, marital status, national origin or income level and all of our services are available in both Spanish and English and are provided without charge. NEWS serves all of Napa County, and is not a governmental agency, buta private nonprofit. NEWS services include: · 24-hour domestic violence crisis line · Transitional housing case management · Outreach, education, and prevention program · Domestic violence support groups in Napa, American Canyon and Calistoga · Court advocacy program · Our confidential domestic violence emergency shelter · Domestic Violence Response Team · Children's Program
