Live Oak Clinic

Description

The Live Oak Clinic is an all volunteer, non-urgent, primary healthcare clinic for local residents who do not qualify for Medicare, Medicaid or CHIP and cannot afford private health insurance. The clients' annual family income must not exceed 200% above poverty to qualify for care.

The uninsured residents of Brazosport who cannot afford regular exams often wait for an illness to become critical before seeking treatment. In 2006, uninsured patients accounted for 32% of emergency room visits at Brazosport Regional Health Systems. Approximately 10,000 individuals received care without reimbursing the hospital and 3,500 of those were classified as non-emergency cases. Uninsured care totaled almost $6 million in unpaid hospital services that year.

The Live Oak Clinic will provide the following services: - Primary healthcare - Out-patient care of diabetes/hypertension - Outpatient lab & urine testing - Prescription assistance - Social service resources - Nutrition and Dental education
