Mission Statement

The Aliah Sweet Fragile Hearts Foundation provides support and grants wishes for Siblings of children with severe, multiple, life-threatening disabilities.

Description

ASFHF is dedicated to making siblings feel important by exclusively addressing their specific needs. The goal is to acknowledge the exceptional bond of siblings while engendering sensitivity among the public to the complexity of sibling issues.

Scope Of the Problem: According to the US Census Bureau, of the more than 8 million children living in California between the ages of 5 and 20 years old, nearly 500,000 of those children have disabilities. A vast majority of these children have severe, multiple, life long disabilities. Because of this, an alarming number of siblings in California alone are also facing challenges attendant to their brother or sister's disability. The sad reality is that the more challenges the child with disabilities faces, the more difficult life is for the sibling(s).
