To provide low-income children with nutritious meals, educational enrichment and life skills as a means to a pathway out of poverty and a productive adulthood.

Description

Children's Food Basket is a network of volunteers, Churches, and service organizations committed to serving low-income children of Oakland by providing food for hungry children. We collect kid friendly food items from various sources, including individual donations, the Alameda County Community Food Bank, and specials from local grocery stores and warehouse clubs, assembles them into bags and delivers them to 25 different elementary schools in Oakland. The school officials make sure that the children take their bags home for the weekend. We currently serve over 1600 children each week.
